This certainly isn't something I wished to read today. Bad situation for everybody, and by everybody I mean everybody, fans, 3D Realms staff, gaming world... Really this sucks.

Maybe this is just a big prank to get people's attention for DNF's unveiling. Well, I'll believe this when they make it official on the front page of 3DR.

I don't think the front page is THAT trustworthy anyway...they could still use it to prank everyone.

I Know, but Shacknews said "with the shut down said to affect both 3D Realms and the recently resurrected Apogee. Employees of both entities have already been let go." but it's wrong.

Update 2: Duke Nukem Forever publisher Take-Two confirmed to Shacknews that it was not funding Duke Nukem Forever.

"We can confirm that our relationship with 3D Realms for Duke Nukem Forever was a publishing arrangement, which did not include ongoing funds for development of the title," said Take-Two VP of communications Alan Lewis in a prepared statement.

"In addition, Take-Two continues to retain the publishing rights to Duke Nukem Forever," he added.
