"It's OK and understandable that people are skeptical. What have we done to earn otherwise? I think things will reverse once we start to show the game and people see that it's real."

Duke4.net´s Plagman Recalls New DNF Trailer from PAX

Category: DNF
by Yatta, on Thu Sep 09 2010, 05:24PM

I'd say the trailer was 2 minutes long or so. There was music, mostly metal.  Definitely not a teaser, we sat there for a while. I don't recall hearing the grabbag theme, it was just generic metal rythms as the action pumped up.

The first part of the trailer definitely had some orchestral/epic kind of stuff, but it was used at a set up. The beginning went like "a long time ago, a man saved the world; then he disappeared" (while showing views of the city and a golden statue of Duke posing like the cover of Duke3D). "When the aliens came back" (aliens, pig cops throwing the statue to the ground using rope) "they made only one mistake: they went after our babes." (Duke one-liner, metal music, clips of Duke kicking ass).

Then a bunch of one-liners cut with action scenes, strippers, etc. There was one scene where duke shattered a frozen enemy with a kick, another one where he stomped a shrunken pig cop. At one point he grabbed a dying pig cop by the horn and ripped the horn out with his hand. There was a clip of the three-breasted alien queen where he said "Hell, I'd still hit it". An alien sphincter/ship interior that looked very much like Prey.

Duke Nukem Forever Coming to Amsterdam

Category: DNF
by Yatta, on Thu Sep 09 2010, 05:09PM

Looks like Duke doesn't end with PAX!

Blammo the company behind GameKings and Firstlook events just announced that Duke Nukem Forever will be present at the FirstLook Event. Which is held on 2 and 3 oct 2010 in the Westergasfabriek Amsterdam.

We have asked Jan Johan aka JJ the PR man behind Blammo, what we could expect. Would this be the PAX demo? Will we see a playable version? He gave us the typical response: "No Comment"

Thanks for the heads up, Popyx.  Duke4.net's RedSplat doesn't live too far from Amsterdam... maybe he'll get us an exclusive peak?

Update: Our community member Gurty will be attending First Look on behalf of Duke4.net in order to report information for our website!  Ticket sales have already begun, so you can order a ticket to the event anytime on First Look's website,

High Quality Gameplay Footage

Category: DNF
by Yatta, on Thu Sep 09 2010, 02:55AM

If you're like me, you've been avoiding reruns of the 2K Feed because the quality is too fucking shitty.  While we wait for the 2+ minute trailer (which reportedly boasts sexy heavy metal music), here are some high quality videos fans were able to sneak out of PAX over the weekend:

You can see the guy recording the second video (above) almost got caught towards the end! Here's another cool video from GameTrailers (thanks Honza and Commando Nukem).

Also, our users BugsBunny and VinsaneOne directed my attention to a cool short interview with the voice of Duke Nukem, Jon St John.  It's pretty funny!

9/5 Updates by RedSplat:

thumb_isaac.jpg Tramell Isaac,
former Art Director at 3D Realms wants everyone to know the truth.

HEAR THIS,.... a hand ful of guys that were on the team when internal development shut down at 3dr, took the game and finish it (PC version). These are the guys that truly made DNF happen. Triptych Games.

thumb_broussard.jpg George Broussard,
Triptych is made up of 9 3DR employees who refused to let the game go and we found a way through the legal maze to keep them working on the game and to keep the game alive. They have been the development force for the last year that's made the game possible.

What you see coming from PAX right now is what we originally made at 3DR with polish and additional work by Triptych and assistance from Gearbox.

Excellent article featured on Kotaku.com
More details on how and by whom Duke Nukem Forever was resurrected

We'll try to keep this news item updated with all the latest links to delicious DNF content, at least until we've had the time to put up our own respective pages.  Thanks for being loyal fans, and please keep posting at our bustling discussion boards!

Randy Pitchford, "Come Get Some".

Category: DNF
by RedSplat, on Fri Sep 03 2010, 03:57PM

pitchford.jpg

It's Confirmed!
According to Pitchford, Gearbox began finishing “Duke Nukem Forever” in late 2009. “Clearly the game hadn’t been finished at 3D Realms but a lot of content had been created,” he says. “The approach and investment and process at 3d Realms didn’t quite make it and it cracked at the end. With Gearbox Software we brought all those pieces together.
It’s the game it was meant to be.”

Machinima's 3DR History, DNF Gearbox Rumors

Category: DNF
by Yatta, on Thu Aug 12 2010, 06:39PM

Even if you've been waiting for Duke Nukem Forever... forever, you probably don't know about the early days of its creators, and the amazing rise to, and fall from, grace that they achieved.  Machinima's several-part video may interest all fans:

There's also a rumor going on at Kotaku that Gearbox (which developed Borderlands) has taken over working on Duke Nukem Forever:

Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford declined to comment to Kotaku on the matter, indicating that he may be able to better clarify the situation further at this year's Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle.

At the end of the day, remember what we hinted.  Thanks to Olivier, Para-noir, udenrasse, and Jobi (who also found this) for the heads up!

Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project Review

Category: Console Duke
by Yatta, on Wed Jun 30 2010, 02:13AM

yatta_dnmp_thumb.jpgWe recently announced the Xbox Live Arcade of this 2002 classic--if you've never heard of DNMP before, you had better brush up with Wiki.

If you did in fact play DNMP back when it came out on PC in 2002, you would remember it as a run and gun side-scrolling classic.  DNMP was probably the best third-party Duke Nukem game ever made, and while Sunstorm Interative went under in 2003 as a result of financial and staffing-related issues, 3D Realms was able to retrieve the rights to the game in order to port it to the Xbox Live Arcade.

Read Our Full Review of DNMP for XBLA

A special thanks to TerminX, Mblackwell, and Dennis for helping with the revision of this review.

A Few Interesting Remarks by 3DR Founders & Fans

Category: DNF
by Yatta, on Wed Jun 30 2010, 12:00AM

Duke Nukem fan: Out of respect, I won't ask for details. But I simply want to know, are you feeling happy/sad/ecstatic/optimistic, considering that the court case is now over with?

George Broussard: It's bittersweet. We went though a lot that we didn't have to because of a publisher that was all too willing to use their legal team as a weapon.

Had we not crafted a creative solution to the suit, it could have drug on and on and things could have stayed in limbo much longer than they were and it could have been a lose-lose-lose situation for us, Take 2 and the fans.

Duke Nukem fan: [Is] DNF cancelled?

George Broussard: Two facts: We haven't said anything. The [3DR DNF] forum is still open.

Duke Nukem fan: Duke3D was my first video game. You and George are awesome, and so is the whole Duke community.

Scott Miller: Thanks Evan. Good news ahead this year...

Couple that with some fan speculation here [1], here [2], and here, and this becomes very interesting!
